New York: The MacMillan Company. 1944.  ​First edition. Octavo (22 cm); xx, 370 pp; illus. Blue cloth with slightly dulled gilt to spine with spine ends slightly worn; sunning to edges; inscription by the author to ffep; front and rear hinges cracked, but no loose leaves; a thin line of dampstaining to rear board extending to rear pastedown and endpaper. Dust jacket is slightly tattered with chipping to edges; overall rubbing and some holes along the folds. Harry E. Burroughs was a Russian immigrant who began the Burroughs Newsboys Foundation in Boston to aid young working boys.
